Canes made their first big forward addition with Michael Bunting for three years at $4.5 mil. I like the move, but I do worry that he becomes just another guy in their cast of forwards rather than a difference maker.
He fits more of the team’s mold than I expected, but I guess they are hoping he adds another layer of skill/passing in the offensive zone off cycles that they were missing last year. This along with Orlov are some interesting adds to start the off-season. Feels like they have more of a long-term scope with these moves. I’ll drop some other thoughts later.
Florida's moves are reminding me of what they did in 2020 except with defensemen. I like Reilly as a bounce-back candidate but OEL/Mikkola/Kulikov feels a little too deep into "throwing shit at the wall and hoping it works" territory.
It’s a good bet. His skillset meshes with what they need to get the most out of McDrai. Interested if he’s still as good as he was in Ottawa at creating off entries in more of a complementary role.
