Thomas Harley rates highly in a lot of defensive categories per your data between in-zone defense, in-zone offense, and profiles like the territorial defenseman you would expect from a high level defender. Interestingly, his defensive rating for impact models on goals like GAR and xGAR profile less favorably. Is this a Nate Schmidt thing, a Single Value Metrics Struggle to Assess Defense thing, or something else? Keep up the inspired work!
Can you tell us about Jordan Kyrou's change from last season to this season. The production has fallen off severely but the defense looks much better. What do the numbers tell us?
What do you make of Carolina's 2nd pairing of Skjei & Pesce? Their performance has been a bit unusual this season, although it has leveled out as of late. With both being pending UFAs, I'm curious how replaceable one is over the other, or if they need to be a package deal to make sense for the team's future. Thank you!
